Task

  • Create the final design for the Self Checkout System. This design must:
    • Meet all the requirements laid out in the case study; (10 marks)
    • Include all screens required for the final implementation of the design; (10 marks)
    • Include all components for each screen; (10 marks)
    • Include all navigation components; (10 marks)
    • Include all the improvements recommended by the usability evaluation. (10 marks)
  • Prepare a report that details the final design. The final design will be verified against the Team Forum discussion posts and therefore must be based on the actual team discussion. Save the final design report as TeamName_Assign4_Final_Design_Report.pdf (replace TeamName with your team's name) in your team's File Exchange area.
  • In your Team Forum, create a thread titled Assignment 4 Design Decisions. In that thread, indicate in your team forum, the reasoning behind your design decisions. This reasoning must demonstrate input from each member of the team. The team leader should then prepare a PDF file showing the team's discussion as follows:
    • Click on the thread Assignment 4 Design Decisions.
    • Click Select ALL.
    • Under MESSAGE ACTIONS click COLLECT.
    • Click PRINT PREVIEW.
    • Print to PDF file. Save this file as TeamName_Assign4_Design_Decisions_Discussion.pdf (replace TeamName with your team's name).
    • Upload the PDF file to your team's File Exchange area.
  • In your Team Forum, create a thread titled Assignment 4 Usability. In that thread, indicate in your team forum how the usability recommendations were implemented and the reasoning behind the method of implementation. The team leader should then prepare a PDF file showing the team's discussion as follows:
    • Click on the thread Assignment 4 Usability.
    • Click Select ALL.
    • Under MESSAGE ACTIONS click COLLECT.
    • Click PRINT PREVIEW.
    • Print to PDF file. Save this file as TeamName_Assign4_Usability_Discussion.pdf (replace TeamName with your team's name).
    • Upload the PDF file to your team's File Exchange area.
  • Create a click-through prototype of your design using Balsamiq Mockups Links in presentation mode (see Linking Mockups Together (https://balsamiq.com/wireframes/ desktop/docs/linking/) for details). When the links in your presentation mode mockup are working correctly, then export your presentation to PDF (see Exporting to PDF (https://balsamiq.com/wireframes/desktop/docs/exporting/)). Save this file as TeamName_Assign4_Prototype.pdf (replace TeamName with your team's name) in your team's File Exchange area. (20 marks)

Individual Tasks

In the Team Forum, each student should submit a collection of their contribution to the two threads Assignment 4 Design Decisions and Assignment 4 Usability. This should be done as follows: (30 marks)

  • In the Forum page, click on Search.
  • In the Search box, enter your full name as it appears in the posts. Click Go.
  • In the Search Results page, click Filter.
  • In the Author drop down box, select your name. Click Go.
  • In the Search Results page, click PRINT PREVIEW.
  • Print to a PDF file. This is the file that you should submit through Turnitin.
